This is a recent digital painting, done for fun. I was mainly hoping to get a look reminiscent of the original Transformers cartoon and movie-meaning more linework on the characters contrasted by a looser, more painterly sky. I also wanted to convey the sheer size of Optimus Prime, I pictured him like a lumbering building. And so I added the birds taking off from his back.

As a quick note, I got bored and decided to convert ANY and ALL images of Optimus into the Shattered glass version, I do NOT plan on posting them on deviant art, since they were already made by other people, however, I do want to point out that this version of Optimus looks really cool in the SHattered glass form,

It feels like Optimus just spent all night grinding through endless battle. Dawns early light illuminated his survival, but his eyes are not filled with pain, but with more determination. I get the impression that More decepticons are in front of him and he must soldier on.
What was your concept development for the back ground? Is this early morning lighting?
